Solar roadways now on IndieGoGo

Solar roadways now on IndieGoGo

A few years ago some people came up with the idea to use glass to create solar roadways. Now this idea has been introduced to us on crowd funding platform IndieGoGo.

For the last five years, Julie Brusaw and Scott Brusaw have been working on fine-tuning their concept of the solar roadway. For many people this may sound like a crazy idea but in 2009 the US department of Transport gave them $100.000 to support the development of the idea. They created a super-durable glass roadway which is able to give cars and trucks the same amount of grip as asphalt roads. They also created LED lights which are used to create the striping on the roads. The glass roads are even able to heat themselves so icing is a problem of the past.

Now Julie and Scott need the help of the masses. In other words they need funding to exploit their solar roadways which are more environment friendly, safer and maybe even more beautiful. The roadways cab also create electricity while driving on it so maybe the will become able to power up the electric cars of the future? The Brusaw’s are asking for one million dollar in funding to go on! That’s a lot of money but for disruptive ideas like this which eventually will generate money you will have to think big. At Extend Limits we will keep on monitoring these guys in their quest of transforming our ugly roads.
