Skylys: our future flying car
The flying car should have been already here. At least if we believe the futurist of the past. Still we are driving in pollutive cars which can do a lot except flying. Will Skylys change this all?
Skylys is from Mix Aerospace and they started an IndieGoGo project on the 31ste of March. They want to change the future of mobility forever with their concept ‘car’ Skylys. For this they need funding for about 2.250.000 and they have still a long way to go to get this amount of money. Let’s be honest… for big companies and governments this amount of money is feasible. But to get this via crowdsourcing will be another challenge. Good luck guys.
Skylys claims to make an end to pollution from cars, enable the sharing economy and even support rescue services better. This is what they say on their IndieGoGo site.
This 4 wheeled module is the main structure of a flying car which will adapt to it’s multi propeller system with a modular robotics system. Driving the vehicle, thanks to its shape and size, fits perfectly into an urban space and happens to be the perfect link between aviation and automotive with the bonus of respecting the environment. It enables multimodal links between small suburban airports and the last kilometer journeys. The idea is to easily commute between airports or even from building to building, for example in Brasilia or Dubai. Not only to decongest cities or flee pollution but to gain time. The Flying car could be initially used for civil protection, Firefighters, Ambulances, rescue missions, and also for private use if one has a helicopter licence. On the road, the Skylys® has the properties of a regular car, and need nothing more than your normal driver’s license.
Of course we saw already a lot of flying cars and there are a lot of projects focussing on this. Still we have a long way to go. Someday we will get a flying autonomous car. But when? Maybe Skylys can speed up things a little.
