Adapt economics to human nature

Adapt economics to human nature

It seems that the economic system is recovering. Nothing is less true. We are deepening our ongoing crisis of a world dominated by economics and systematic thinking and handling

At Extend Limits we believe in fundamentally resetting many of the current systems which dominate today’s world. One of them is the economic system. A system which can be best described by a domination of complexity and viewed as an inhuman system. With this we believe that we have developed ourselves towards a world where economics aren’t helping us to maintain real human progress.

The documentary Boom Bust Boom is about a global movement to change economics through education. Besides this it is also to encourage the debate about our current economic systems. The film is co-written by Monty Pyhton’s Terry Jones and Theo Kocken (Dutch professor of economics). The documentary is a combination of live action, animation and puppetry. The film features advocates such as John Cusack, leading experts including Nobel Prize winners Daniel Kahneman, Robert J. Shiller and Paul Krugman. Boom Bust Boom proposes a simple idea - let’s adapt economics to human nature. A unique look at why economic crashes will keep happening,

Terry Jones says of the film: “If you don’t know what happened to the economy in 2008 you will do by the end of this film. I am hoping it will encourage debate on how we can adapt the economic system to human nature, instead of idly hoping humans will change.
The goal of the film is to initiate a global debate. As Kocken points out: “The people in the street are the ones who directly or indirectly pay for and suffer from financial follies. It is crucial the public as a whole understands what went wrong and what they can do to try and stop it happening again. We want to support economic students around the world who struggle with the fact that what is taught at universities does not always link to reality.
