Vera's first concert

Vera is a Dutch girl who is born deaf. Due to recent developments in technology doctors were able to give back Vera’s ability to hear. One of her biggest wishes was to hear a concert. This was captured in an emotional and impressive video.

Born deaf and living with a wish and hope to experience the effect of being able to hear and listen to a concert. This is the story of Vera. Thanks to technological advancement she is able to hear again. The technology which made this possible is called Cochlear.

A cochlear implant (CI) is a surgically implanted electronic device that provides a sense of sound to a person who is profoundly deaf or severely hard of hearing. Cochlear implants may help provide hearing in patients who are deaf because of damage to sensory hair cells in their cochleas.

Her brother is a big Fan of Kyteman and together with telecom company Vodafone the gave Vera a once in a lifetime experience. Vera was about to experience her first concert! A very impressive video and a great example of the good side of technology.

Technology advances very fast and like any other development we also see that technology has a good, bad and ugly side. The biggest challenge is to use all of these technological advancements to create human progress. With the merge of technology with the human body like we see in this examples humans will in the near future become connected to the web. What kind of impact this will have is guessing but it certainly will have huge impacts on privacy, communication and our relation with companies, institutions and governments. When we become connected we also become searchable.

Technology returned the ability to hear to Vera. And that’s a great example of the possibilities technology can bring.
