We should eat less meat and more insects. Our consumption is in fact untenable.
We all know it; we eat too much meat. It is unhealthy, bad for the environment and certainly not very animal friendly. The question is how long we will eat flesh of animals and when we will switch to artificial meat. With all the many technological and scientific breakthroughs. Successful initiatives, such as the Vegetarian Butcher, let us all gradually see the future. A future that already begun today.
Welcome at Memphis Meat. This organisation produces meat with the use of animal cells. This is what they say about themselves:
We found a way to produce real meat from animal cells, without the need to feed, breed and slaughter actual animals. We expect our products to be significantly better for the environment, the animals and humanity. And most importantly, they're delicious: all are developed with recipes honed over a half century by award-winning chefs. With our home-base in the San Francisco Bay Area, we're using the innovative spirit of Silicon Valley coupled with the rich culinary traditions of the American south to provide better meat for the entire world.
A very interesting concept where we wonder whether it is tasty or not. I foresee a future for organisations being able to produce meat that does not pollute the environment and harm animal welfare. Meat is the caviar of the future. What will replace meat? Insects and artificial meat. Well, it seems like. Memphis Meat is an interesting start-up for the food industry and consumers. This is just a small example from all the many initiatives we see around food.
