Real time translated communications

Real time translated communications

The holy grail of communications. That is wat scientist often call real time translated communications. Some scietists say it will never be possible. Until the recent launch of Sigmo. A little tool that can translate real time conversations in several languages, according to its producer. Is real time translations C3PO style finally made possible?

Language forms often a barrier in the contact between two people. If you don’t speak the language of the person in front of you,  then you often have to rely on communication with hands and feet. Unless you have a translation robot, such as the gold shiny C3PO from Star Wars. Startup SIGMO think they found the solution for that. Using the crowdfunding platform IndieGoGo, they try to fund sufficient money to develop the little translation engine. And that’s will work, looking at the nearly 20 times the necessary enrollment. The device is the size of a matchbox, and according to the producers it van communicate in 25 languages.

Lets say the device, not more than $70 dollars, is 99.9% accurate (more accurate than has been possible so far). The effect on our communicational behavior would be enormous. Because in that case we can communicate with foreigners without difficulty. On vacation, on business trips or with foreign customers. And what to think about help desks? If the language barrier is lost, why all the call centers would not really be put on the other side of the world? Or what will be the role of interpreters? The distances in the world can be relatively much smaller. Today using a small device, tomorrow placed in your glasses, or simply built into your vocal cords. Why not?
