With great fanfare, the first commercial supply by a drone in England is a fact.
Amazon has long been engaged in the developments of new methods to get orders faster delivered. The most famous example is, of course, the drone. In several countries, Amazon is testing and planning to deliver their first commercial supply in England on the sixth of December. After years of struggle against regulation and legislation, Amazon managed to carry out a delivery with a drone in England. Amazon wants eventually be able to deliver within 30 minutes. Obviously, everything is only a concept and we have to wait a couple of years before we can deal with this technology.
Amazon states the following:
Amazon will make drone deliveries in the Cambridge test area seven days a week during daylight hours, weather permitting. To qualify, items must weigh less than 5 pounds. Already, 87% of the items sold on Amazon are under 5 pounds and are small enough to be carried by drone.
In The Netherlands, we also see a lot of parties who are experimenting with delivery by drones. If we are able to believe the reports, we need to know that cities are increasingly lipsing tight. New ways to get packages to consumers will also be introduced soon. After all, online sales will definitely increase. Amazon is ahead because of its many efforts testing deliveries with the use of drones.
Also in France we see disruptive breakthroughs. For example, DPD in France received permission to perform the packet delivery on a regular delivery route with drones. This instead of getting on road network. The French aviation authorities gave DPD the permission to carry out a regular delivery route of 15 kilometers with drones. See the video below.
