We move from a period in which people were serving structures and procedures towards an era in which we see emerging networks at the service of people. This development is twofold. First, we see that organisations and institutions are becoming organised like networks. Partly because of technology but mostly because of the next generation of employees who think less in structures.
In addition, we see that responsibility and involvement of staff was being blown away for many years. Our carefully produced rules and procedures were leading our organisations and the people who worked for those organisations. We have created a world where the economist has replaced the act of a passionate expert. With the trend 'the end of system thinking' we see that the passion and creativity of employees are again regaining focus of management and organisations. Organisations become more about the human value instead of focussing on rules and procedures we have created in the past.
Trend definition: The development in which organisations focus more on the power of the individual and the community rather than the system and procedure. The shift of people serving structures towards networks serving people.
