Trend: Quantified me
The ever growing Quantified Self movement is all about ‘knowing’ yourself better through numbers. Technology provides us the tools and we use them to monitor and analyse our lives, bodies and surroundings.
The quantified self movement knows it’s origin from the 1970’s term ‘sousveillance’. It is all about getting realtime information of the users. This by using the latest technology. The term Quantified Self was first used in 2007 (Wired) and has started a movement of people using technology to monitor and analyse themselves and their surroundings. This all for a more efficient and better ‘life’. The quantified self movement is also looking for more self control and less dependency of organisations and institutions/governments. The impact of the Quantified self trend is becoming bigger because more people are collecting their own data. This is all powered by the availability and simplicity of all the new technologies on this area and a trust deficit in todays governments and organisations.
