First regulations for nanotechnology

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) takes the first initiatives to regulate products which use nanotechnology.

The regulation focusses on products like washing machines, foodcontainers and shoe liners which use nanotechnology killing germs. EPA fears that this form of nanotechnology will also harm the environment. They plan to regulate these products using the same criteria used to regulate pesticides.

"Germ-killing nanoparticles might harm microscopic flora in the wider environment"

The fact that EPA is now busy regulating nanotechnology proves that the breakthrough of nanotechnology products is very near. I only hope that there will not be to much regulation which can put an hold on developments in nanotechnology. Do you think that to much regulation will temper innovation in nanotechnology?
