Virtuele representatie van fysiek lichaam als paspop

We buy more and more online...but all the clothes we buy online we often send back because it doesn't fit. So we still have to go to the physical shops to find the right clothes. Myshape.com found a solution. Consumers can provide their basic body dimensions and style preferences and then they see all the available clothing that will fit well and suit their taste. MyShape.com did a pilot and recorded the measurements of about 20,000 women in five-months. The measeured women shopped till they dropped online and the results were astonishing.

So far the method seems to be working, particularly among women 35 and older, the company’s target audience. Customers are buying clothes at a rate far higher than the industry average, and are returning them at half the industry average. Shipping is free both ways. Louise J. The only still standing problem is the measurement of the bodies. This proces isn't very user friendly. But this is only a question of times when they solved that also. Besides the initiative of MyShape, Intellifit, will place body scanners at the airport of Philladelphia. With this scanner they offer free scans of the body to all people at the airport. After a 10 second scan the people can get a login and password with which they can, online and from their homes, choose from an assortment of clothes from seven companies, including Levi's.

The barrier to shop online is continuesly becoming lower. We have to just waiting to notice the consequences of this trend for the shops in the physical world. Online shopping will be more and more a big competitor for the physical world in the future.
