Touch via the web
Communication has developed itself revolutionary in the past years. We are able to communicate borderless and even our different languages is something we will overcome. But don’t we forget something? One of the most important things in communication: our senses like touch. The future will also solve that.
Communication is not only words. It is also based on touch, smell, mimic. In today’s world we can hardly imagine that touch is being transferred via the web. Still there is an IndieGoGo project which claims to make it possible to send touch via the web. Doesn’t sound that exiting?
The IndieGoGo project “Bond’ has a goal to get 150.000 dollar in funding. With this money they say that will be able to make it possible to transfer touch via the web. Of course in the porn industry there are already some examples but Bond goes further. Bond uses bracelets which are only (of course) available in pairs. Via the Bond system vibrations are send to transfer ‘touch’. Beside this, which I believe isn’t that innovating, you can leave a trail of ‘feelings’ in the physical world for other Bond users. With this idea the want to make feeling, touch and even emotion more ‘visible’ and shareable.
The principe is very simple but I question if this will become the killer app. What I don’t question is that touch, smell etcetera will also become included in the digital world. It will still take some years but finally even these things will become digital. It is because we are all searching for a more human way of communication in the digital world.
