Re-live history in virtual worlds
Will it b possible to re-live history in virtual worlds. Well it could be a normal thing in the future.
Second Life is being used for a very large number of experiments. Marketing firms are doing research and surveys. A Dutch undertaker firm (Uitvaart.nl) is using SecondLife to educate people what cremation precisely is and how it's done. But are they actually going to cremate a Avatar ... well that might the next big thing coming (even though, avatars can not die...)
And if that's not enough, a Dutch TV producer and broadcaster, Talpa, has bought a number of islands. They will start with streaming a concert from Paradiso, Amsterdam Music Temple, live into SecondLife. And The scene from SecondLife will be shown (streamed) back to the Concert. Having both first life and second life people be part of the concert, how cool is that?
Of course it doesn't end their, Reuters, Levis, ABN AMRO, and more companies all have bought their part of SecondLife.
SecondLife is just like real life! And so I thought, what would be next that SecondLife can do what real life can not...and then it hit me. How about re-living history. How about being Napoleon or Churchill or any other big name in history! How about being that person and living that period. It will be great for students but would be entertaining to others as well. Indeed it will be something that you can not do in real-life, truly re-live history. And it will teach anyone what happened and not read about it, but undergo it. I hope that some-one in SecondLife would build a part of history. I would love to pay for the experience! Maybe a new idea for future features within SecondLife?
