Obama uses social media

Last year, we held elections in The Netherlands. Some said that this would be the first time that Internet would dominate the political debates. To bad this didn't happen

Sadly enough, nothing of the sort happened in The Netherlands. Instead, all politicians used the regular media to gain coverage and some used Hyves ( a dutch based Facebook Social Network). And that in a country where 28,8 out of 100 people have a broadband connection! We are number 2 in the world where broadband is king!

But then in the united States it's a different ball-game. According to Mashable, Presidential candidate Barack Obama changed his website into a social network. So I took a look and found a great looking site, very professional. The site is a true social network focused on campaigning, fund raising and reaching out to voters.

Compared to the Dutch political sites and politician weblogs, this is really very professional. In a Internet frenzy country such as the Netherlands, our politicians should take note on what is happening! Well done mister Obama! Or should I say future President Obama?
