NASA data about melting ice caps

NASA has analysed data and pictured the current situation of the melting ice caps. An impressive and sad image.

We all know how climate change has a profound impact on earth. Yet it seems for many of us still far away. As humans, we can hardly imagine how our contemporary behaviour influence the future. The animation that NASA made of melting ice caps can help in creating additional awareness.

New satellite data from NASA reveals the record decline of the Arctic’s ice in recent decades has lowered both the coverage and thickness of the Arctic ice cap even more. The data found the seasonal maximum ice coverage of the Arctic is the lowest on record since 1979.

According to NASA has Antarctica since 1979 lost more than one million square kilometres of ice. The rise in temperature of the seawater and other climate changes will ensure that the ice will not grow as it did before. As the animation shows, there have been periods where the ice grew back. Yet, we do not know the exact truth. We only know that climate changes. And humans are the cause of it. Future consequences? There is still a lot of research that has to be done.

The trend is to get a more conscious and sustainable consumer. The trend is out there, and if we develop it all together, we could accelerate it. We all vote for a world we wish for.
