Intel, 3d print your robots
See hello to Jimmy a project from Intel and Trossen Robotics. Jimmy will cost about $1600 and you can customize it via 3d printed parts and personalize even it’s software via a special platform.
Jimmy’s isn’t a dump robot. They say it’s got more brains than your normal desktop. Jimmy has wireless, Blueteooth, USB and HDMI so there are different ways to communicate with him. Jimmy can run for about an hour before needing a recharge.
Like I said 3d printing is of course also included. Well… not included but you can customize Jimmy. The robot’s skin, face and hands can all be customized and replaced with parts you print on your own desktop 3D printer. Besides that you can write your own program for Jimmy. The robot is designed to work with an app store.
Jimmy is again an initiative which tries to lower the barriers for robotics to be adopted in our lives. Within 10 years robotics will be all normal in our houses and live. This is what I predict. What do you think?
