IBM "Building a smarter planet", the smart city
Yesterday I wrote about IBM's strategy "Building a smarter planet". Today a wonderful video on the 3 main pillars of this strategy:

I found this video at A Smarter Planet. The city is the source for innovation. This video great, de inspired by it.
At the moment 50% of the world population lives in cities. In 2050 this will be 70%. This means every year 7 New Yorks are added. Due to this development the need will for
- Transportation
- Health care
- and public safety will grow.
Also the need for
- Better education
- Accessible government
- Greener programmes
- Safer streets will grow
Older cities will need to update critical infrastructure, new cities will need to build adoptable and flexible systems to accommodate more people. This is why cities are in the front line of resolving the challenges such as clean drinking water and sustainable energy.
