Het Internet in 2020 en de impact op retail
How will the internet devellop and what will be the impact on e-commerce? i think that in the near future we will shop almost all the time virtual. in the near future we are able to shop and consume any time and any place. The need to go to a physical store will be deminished. The physical shoppingstreet will find her way towards the virtual world. Just look at some of the initiative which already exist and you know probably even more.
- Score shop locator: a mashup with a locator of Score shops.
- NL streets: a concept which exists some time and gives you access to many stores in shoppingstreets online. To bad you can't buy anything yet.
- Shopping centre Aarhof: This is the first Dutch shoppingcentre which is completly rebuild in Secondlife.
- Streetsensation: Complete shoppingstreets online.
- Interactieve spiegel: The mirror which allows you to show you new clothing to you friends who watch from their homes.
The future of e-commerce is recently observed by Rackspace Managed Hosting and described in a survey. The survey was about the future of 3d and virtual shopping in 2020. Webshopping will be in 2020 fully personalized and we walk through virtual 3d shops. Confidence, experience and reputation will reamin essential. Allthough I think word of mouth will be essential. Electronic commerce will change into Virtual Commerce. Some other interesting conclusion are:
- Mobile Web and Internet interfaces mean work spaces and work time will be more fluid.
- The Internet will be green - relying on technologies that require reduced energy, alternative energy sources and offsetting of contributions to carbon emissions
- The Web, online communities and social networking sites will have facilitated the development of an alternative economy. Supplementing a cash economy with a ‘relative economy' this will see goods, services and time ‘traded' by individuals, groups and perhaps even businesses both locally and across the world.
