Google maps Street View en Mapplets gelanceerd
Many blogs post about it but here at Extendlimits I really also want to make notice of it. This because it shows again the changing world where virtual meets the real world. I am talking about Google Streetview and Google Mapplets. First some interesting links to see for yourself and of course watch the Youtube movies below:
Streetview is still to five cities: Denver, Las Vegas, Miami, New York and San Francisco. But I expect this number to grow very fast and soon we will be able to virtual tour through a lot of real world places via Google Streetview. Immersive, with which Google cooperates, already offers much more virtual tours. And Immersive is not the only organization which is actively involved in making the real world realtime virtual available. Just think about Immervision.
Streetview makes it possible to 'walk through' the streets as if you are there. You can look around and zoom in when you want to. How it exactly work? Just look at the movies below.
Streetview is, like I said, a good example of the merging of the virtual world with the real world. I would even think that the movie Deja Vu is becoming a reality?
Beside Google Streetview Google also introduced Google Mapplets. Mapplets make it easy to get additional information on Google maps like gas prices, weather forecast, movies etc. See for all the available contentservicesContent Mapplets pagina.
Twee nieuwe toepassingen voor Google maps. Google blijft een voorbeeldorganisatie in mijn ogen op het gebied van vernieuwing en innovatie.
