Google introduces the eternal online life

What happens with your profile when you die? Of course has the answer. You can manage your profile after death with Google’s afterlife service. You can even decide if you want to life online forever.

We all know: death is a natural process which belongs to life. But we also know that in the virtual world everything is possible. And being dead doesn’t have to mean that you are also dead online. In my social media accounts there are several people who aren’t alive anymore. Not all online accounts are erased by relatives who are still alive. There are several reasons for this. One of the most obvious is that people forget it or don’t know how to do it. And because people don’t know how to do it many people who have died are still online.

Google introduced last week Afterlive. This a tool which gives you the ability to decide what happens with your online data when you are for a long time online inactive. Google is the first major online player which gives people the opportunity to decide what happens with you online data when you are dead. A great initiative and I am curious if there are already people who described in their will what hast to be done with their data online when they die. Maybe you want your relatives to keep on tweeting with your account or you use tools which do it for you like Liveson or Deadsocial.

Death belongs to life. But this isn’t the case in the new virtual world. We get the opportunity to life forever online. Scary?
