The end of money (physical)
What will the future be of all our physical money? In our book 2020 we describe the disappearance of physical money. In the near future we all pay only digital.
The disappearance of money is something we already see happen. We see this already happen by the ever growing usage of for example creditcards. Visa, Europay and Mastercard also see this and started an initiative called EMV-chip. The letters of the organisations who participate in the project (Europay, MasterCard and Visa). EMV-chip makes it possible to pay your bills just by waving in front of a payment module (Wave and Pay) with your new credit card with RFID named Visa Contactless.
In the near future Visa will start the first pilot. More information about this pilot will be public in March 2007. This initiative will bring the physical money to a near end and will bring society close to a real digital society. Do you know more initiative around future methods of payments please let me know.
